Mount Etna live with multiple views of the volcano
The Mount Etna webcams combine a multi-camera stream with a continuously operating robotic camera focused on the volcano.
The different views make it possible to observe the summit profile, cloud cover and changing visibility across the slopes. When visible volcanic phenomena occur, the live images provide an immediate view but do not replace information issued by the competent authorities.
Conditions at altitude can change quickly, so the images may alternate between clear views, fog, cloud and night-time scenes during the same day.
History and local identity
Mount Etna dominates eastern Sicily and is one of the world’s most closely studied active volcanoes. Eruptions, lava flows and deposits have shaped its slopes, forests and settlements over time, creating a landscape in constant transformation.
Nearby
Catania, Taormina and the towns around Etna provide different gateways to the area. Excursions to higher elevations must follow current guidance, restrictions and authorised-guide requirements.
