Switzerland live
Swiss webcams open views over the Alps, lakes, historic cities, mountain passes and resorts in the heart of Europe.
The Alps, Swiss Plateau and Jura form the country’s three main geographic regions. Mountains contain glaciers, valleys and passes, while lakes and rivers accompany many towns and cities. Live views are especially useful for observing visible snow cover, cloud and rapid weather changes at altitude.
The Confederation developed from alliances among medieval Alpine communities and became a federal state in 1848. Cantons and regions have retained strong autonomy; German, French, Italian and Romansh reflect a cultural diversity that is also visible in architecture and local traditions.
Bern preserves its old town beside the Aare, Zurich and Geneva combine international activity with lakeside life, and Lucerne looks toward the Alps. Interlaken, Zermatt, the Engadin, Ticino and the Jungfrau region offer very different mountain environments.
