Sint Maarten live
Webcams in Sint Maarten show bays, ports, beaches and spectacular aircraft approaches on the Dutch side of the island of Saint Martin.
The southern part of the island combines hills, lagoons and Caribbean coastlines. Wind, waves, boat traffic and short tropical showers quickly change the views; at Maho Beach, aircraft bound for Princess Juliana International Airport pass low overhead before landing.
Arawak and Kalinago peoples lived on the island before European colonisation. French and Dutch authorities have shared the island since the 17th century; plantations and slavery left an important legacy in Caribbean society. Since 2010, Sint Maarten has been a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Philipsburg faces Great Bay with its port, waterfront and historic streets. Simpson Bay combines a marina with coastal life; Maho is closely associated with the airport, while viewpoints and bays such as Little Bay and Dawn Beach reveal different forms of the island landscape.
