Kåsa and the Strandpromenaden

Kåsa, also called Lilla Apelviken, combines sandy beach and rocky sections south of the fortress. It is linked with central Varberg by the Strandpromenaden, a coastal promenade running for about five kilometres toward Apelviken.

The promenade was created in 1912 and now passes rocks, beaches, bathing points and open Kattegat views. The Kåsa webcam is therefore part of a larger coastal sequence connecting the historic centre, seaside culture, beaches and surf.

Apelviken: beach, wind and surf

Apelviken is a long sandy bay south of the centre and one of Varberg's defining coastal landscapes. It is a popular summer bathing area, but the wind also makes it important for windsurfing, kitesurfing, SUP and wave surfing.

The Apelviken and Stormhuset webcams provide immediate information about real conditions: wind, sea state, waves, surfers, beach use and visibility. That makes them useful throughout the year rather than only in summer.

The Varberg coast through the year

Sweden's west coast changes markedly with the season. Summer brings bathing and outdoor life to Apelviken and Kåsa; autumn and winter bring stronger wind, waves and low-angle light; spring gradually restores activity and vegetation.

This is why the marine webcams remain valuable when the beaches are almost empty. They show the Kattegat itself: passing weather systems, sea state and the way northern light alters water, sand and sky.

How to read Varberg through its webcams

The fourteen live views work best in comparison. Fortress, square and Brunnsparken show the town; Apelviken, Poolviken and Kåsa show the sea; Getterön shows nature; golf, skatepark and motor club show local activities.

Wind is one of the most important variables. A calm day can leave the bays almost still, while a weather front can turn Apelviken into a surf landscape. At the same time cloud, rain and low light strongly affect views of the fortress and coast.
