Kīlauea volcano – summit live webcam
Observe the Kīlauea summit area; the camera is not in Pāhoa and visibility changes with weather and volcanic gases.
Halemaʻumaʻu and the summit camera
Halemaʻumaʻu lies within Kaluapele, Kīlauea’s summit caldera inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The camera may show crater walls, volcanic gases, clouds or light from active material, depending on its actual framing and conditions. It is not mounted in Pāhoa.
How to interpret the live picture
Darkness, rain, cloud and gas can hide the crater. A bright image does not prove that an eruption is underway, and a dark image does not prove that the stream is offline. Images alone cannot establish danger levels or the position of a lava flow.
Visiting responsibly and staying informed
Use USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory updates and National Park Service notices for current hazards and access. Respect closures and culturally significant places. The webcam is useful for observation, never a substitute for official safety instructions.
