Discover this view

This webcam provides a panoramic view of Rome from the Monte Mario area in the north-western part of the city. From this elevated position, the camera reveals the scale of the urban landscape in a very different way from webcams placed in the historic centre: rooftops, neighbourhoods and the city skyline extend towards the horizon. The live view is especially useful for observing atmospheric visibility, cloud development, changing light from morning to sunset and the overall appearance of the sky above Rome. On clear days the panorama appears deeper and more detailed; in haze or bad weather, the stream immediately shows how colours and visibility across the city change.

Rome live: monuments, neighbourhoods and the Vatican

Rome’s webcams bring together different views of the capital: archaeological sites, monumental squares, urban panoramas and the area around St Peter’s.

The views include the Circus Maximus with the Palatine Hill, the Trevi Fountain, the panorama from Monte Mario and the Prati district with the dome of St Peter’s in the background. Vatican live streams also make it possible to follow the area during celebrations and public events.

Moving from one webcam to another gives very different perspectives on Rome and makes it possible to observe crowd levels, light and weather conditions at the main locations shown.

History and local identity

Rome preserves more than two millennia of visible history, from the republican and imperial city to Christian, Renaissance and Baroque Rome. The different webcams show places belonging to distant periods that are still part of the capital’s everyday life.
