This live stream is connected to Vatican Media and may show views, celebrations or events from Vatican City and the St Peter’s area. Unlike a fixed-position webcam, the content can change according to the programme and the event taking place, so the framing is not always the same. When the stream is active, it may provide a close view of St Peter’s Square, the Basilica or public ceremonies and scheduled events. Its presence on Webcam OK therefore complements Rome’s panoramic cameras with a live source focused on public life and events in the Vatican, while the stream itself remains content supplied by an external provider.

Rome live: monuments, neighbourhoods and the Vatican

Rome’s webcams bring together different views of the capital: archaeological sites, monumental squares, urban panoramas and the area around St Peter’s.

The views include the Circus Maximus with the Palatine Hill, the Trevi Fountain, the panorama from Monte Mario and the Prati district with the dome of St Peter’s in the background. Vatican live streams also make it possible to follow the area during celebrations and public events.

Moving from one webcam to another gives very different perspectives on Rome and makes it possible to observe crowd levels, light and weather conditions at the main locations shown.

History and local identity

Rome preserves more than two millennia of visible history, from the republican and imperial city to Christian, Renaissance and Baroque Rome. The different webcams show places belonging to distant periods that are still part of the capital’s everyday life.
